For modern progressive thinkers, it is difficult for them to sympathize with the Confucian values, and the Confucian image seems to fit very well with the old, serious and conservative ministers who defended the conservative tradition. This article argues that this understanding of Confucianism may be wrong. According to his personal experience, the author points out that Confucians can and should have a sense of humor, and they are also actively involved in social and political criticism. This article also challenges the view that Confucianism must be a humble elder and makes some reflections on whether Confucianism belongs solely to China.
