In this study, the relationship between basic endothelial derived relaxing factor (EDRF / NO) levels and hypertension in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and essential hypertension (EH) was observed respectively from experimental animals and clinics. EDRF / NO effect product cGMP activity was significantly reduced, and with the aortic ring response to vasoconstrictor substances increased response to vasodilators decreased, EH plasma cGMP activity and mean arterial pressure was significantly negative correlation between SHR, EH patients cGMP / ET ratio was significantly lower than that of control group, and negatively correlated with the level of blood pressure. The results suggest that the basic synthesis release of EDRF / NO and the reduction of EDRF / ET ratio in SHR and EH patients may be associated with the development of hypertension relationship.
