1980年英格索兰公司透平机械分公司将磁力轴承应用到用蒸汽轮机驱动的多级离心压缩机内,并使压缩机在极其不利的工作条件下运行,如:喘振、不平衡、阻塞及稳定地运行到临界转速。这些试验证明磁力轴承长期运行安全可靠。根据试验结果,英格素兰公司决定改进现有的管线压缩机和新生产的机器,使它们都采用磁力悬浮轴承。
1980 Ingersoll-Rand Turbine Machinery Division applies magnetic bearings to multistage centrifugal compressors driven by steam turbines and operates compressors under extremely unfavorable operating conditions such as surge, unbalance, Block and run stably to critical speed. These tests prove that magnetic bearing long-term operation safe and reliable. According to the test results, Ingersoll-Rand decided to improve existing line compressors and newly produced machines so that they all use magnetic suspension bearings.
