由杭州机械设计研究所与江苏省国营海安电子仪器厂共同研制的ND-50表面型微机核子密度仪于1988年12月21日在杭州通过部级技术鉴定。这次鉴定会由能源部科技司主持召开。能源部等有关单位的代表出席了会议。 ND-50仪是利用γ射线透射法和反散射法对密度进行测量的。容重测量范围为1500~2700kg/m~3,最大测量深度为50cm,突破了国外同类仪器最大测量深度为30cm的限度。仪器使用微处理机控制和处理数据,有十三种功能,其测量和计算的数据直读并可存贮打
