In 2013, the overall trend of the world economy was mixed. Global capital markets ushered in periodical fluctuations and emerging markets were facing “money shortage.” In the developed economies, the U.S. economy is still recovering, the job market continues to pick up and consumer purchasing power is relatively strong, but the situation in the Eurozone and emerging economies is not optimistic. China faces the severe challenges of lack of external demand, increased trade frictions, increased inflationary pressures on imports, and hot money shocks. Under the circumstances that the international economic environment is still complex and volatile, we must base ourselves on expanding domestic demand to promote sustained and healthy economic development. We must also strive to maintain steady growth in exports and continue to expand our share of exports in global trade.
