The lattice auxiliary words “” and “” which represent the starting point of a moving verb appear to have the same meaning on the surface, but due to the different archetypal meanings of these two lattice aids, they can not be replaced freely. The previous studies mainly focus on the analysis of the specific semantics and usages of “” and “”, and the differences between the two are less analyzed by the theory of cognitive linguistics. This paper uses the prototype theory in cognitive linguistics to examine the differences and connections between the two and to explain the reasons for such differences in order to promote Japanese learners’ understanding and learning efficiency.
