Every year, 300 million people die from tuberculosis in the world. DNA testing has become the main technique for the diagnosis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The whole genome sequence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv was tested in 1998 and the candidate gene erp was found. This opens up the prospect for human understanding of the molecular mechanism of molecular pathogenesis and molecular diagnosis of M. tuberculosis.
