汪曾祺的小说《受戒》在80年代有重要的影响,并被一些作家和研究者纳入“寻根文学”的脉络。本文通过将《受戒》与作者创作于40年代的《庙与僧》进行对比,结合汪曾祺自1949年以来经历的社会政治斗争及其造成的特殊心态、八十年代初特殊的社会环境、汪曾祺的童年经历及其作品中的童年视角和汪氏身上所承载的京派文人传统等方面,对《受戒》这一文本进行解读,认为《受戒》是通过构建一个小儿女的纯真世界来创造一个精神的避难所,以此来抚慰作者在几次政治运动中所受到的心灵伤害。因此它与“寻根文学”有很多的不同之处。
