《悔不该》是北方昆曲剧院最近演出的现代题材的小折子戏。它同《游园惊梦》、《醉打山门》等昆曲名剧组成了一台节目。可是,却并不显得“夹生”。这出短小精炼、富有趣味的现代小戏,为整个演出增色不少。这个戏的成功,除了剧情很好之外,主要是恰当地运用了昆曲传统的手法,使人看起来不但饶有趣味,而且感到它还是昆曲。早在六十年代,北方昆曲剧院就改编演出过了《悔不该》一戏。由周仲春导演,韩建成饰老华,董瑶琴饰小青。这次又经仲春同志和演员同志们的精心加工、整理,将两场戏并成一场,删除了一些多余的情节,从而使戏更加精炼集中。在这次中青年调演中获得好评。《悔不该》一戏的突出特点是富有创造性地运用昆曲的传统表演手法。例如,老华的上场,是背着身出来的,熟悉昆曲的观众一看就知道,这是从《下山》那里借鉴来的。我们叫“蛤蟆行”。但没有念珠,而是牵着驴,悄悄地往外溜,非常生动。再有,小青进山看看对象,乘上了老华拉脚的驴,一路上老华想方
