Mexico retains a method of clay construction taught by Indians that uses live plants to stabilize wall structures. During construction, clay bricks reinforced with asphalt emulsions were replaced by other commonly used building materials using air-dried. The clay bricks are 10 to 13 cm thick and 50 to 60 cm long (square bricks with plant roots). It is made from a half-dried bed of mud and masonry in a wet state. The original plant roots in the clay still continue to grow in the freshly made bricks. Therefore, it is possible to connect the clay bricks with each other by means of the plant roots, thereby adding an additional stabilizing effect to the clay wall.
