国内外大量烃源岩的研究表明,海相烃源岩岩系中,通常含有丰富的放射虫化石,多数夹有硅质岩层,有些烃源岩就是放射虫岩,但是关于放射虫与烃源岩之间关系的研究却非常稀少.综述了近年来放射虫生态与古生态、生产力与古生产力方面的研究进展,将古生代放射虫划分为3类生态组合,其中浅水组合(Se组合)是古生代海洋中的高有机质生产力的主要贡献者,可以作为古生产力研究的替代指标.从生物学研究成果来看,许多放射虫具有含脂高、易保存等特点,应是古生代海相烃源岩有机质的主要贡献者.在此基础上,讨论了放射虫-硅质岩与海相烃源岩关系密切的可能原因.
