据《国际海军》1994年第3期和《国际防务评论》1994年第7期报道,美国海军已决定选择休斯导弹公司或道格拉斯飞机公司作为独家承包商,以继续生产“战斧”巡航导弹并研制其未来的改进型。在1994~1998财政年度中,海军拟投资14亿美元用于生产1000余枚“战斧”BloclⅢ导弹,并准备投资4亿美元用于改进型BlockⅣ导弹的工程研制和试制。承包商将于1998~2003年间把现役的BlockⅡ导弹改进为BlockⅣ标准,改型后的导弹可望在下个世纪初期部署。
