检验医学是一门临床新兴学科,是现代实验室科学技术与临床医学在更高层次上的结合。它在传递基础医学信息和推动临床诊断水平中起到了桥梁和枢纽作用。特别是在20世纪末,随着数理科学在生物学领域的广泛渗透和结构基因组学、功能基因组学和环境基因组学蓬勃发展的形势下,检验医学技术已取得突破性进展,给检验医学带来了崭新的领域和更多的发展空间,赋予了检验医学更新的内涵。在本期检验医学专题栏目中,我们选用了利用基础实验室研究的信息来探讨临床疾病发病机理的文章,选用了利用不同的临床检验诊断指标来探讨疾病病程变化的文章,选用了利用不同检验技术方法来探讨对临床疾病诊断的可靠性的文章,旨从不同角度表达检验医学在基础与临床,在“知未病、预知病、治愈病”中所发挥的重要作用。
