According to a multi-user information service plan proposed by the Battle Institute, each company invested 3,000 U.S. dollars to obtain comparative data helpful to chemical industry policy-makers in formulating budget for R & D planning and analysis and evaluation data. Participating member companies will receive research and development funding, staffing levels, the relationship between research and development, and other business parameters of the chemical industry. These comparative data will cover the seven years from 1980 to 1986. Battle plans to collect and compare detailed R & D statistics and make comparative information through the cooperation of participating member companies without revealing the confidential information of any individual company. The plan will determine the nature of the information provided to each member company
