Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of neuron-specific enolase (NSE) in pediatric seizures. Methods Fifty patients were divided into epilepsy (A) group (n = 22) and non-epileptic seizure (group B) (n = 28). Serum levels of NSE were measured within 24 hours after the onset of seizures by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay Compare. Results The level of NSE in group A was (22.12 ± 10.22) μg / L, which was significantly higher than that in group B (9.72 ± 4.06) μg / L and group C (7.90 ± 1.85) μg / L, P <0.01. Conclusion Epileptic seizures can cause a significant increase of serum NSE levels, and NSE can be used to identify seizures and non-seizures.
