Objective: To evaluate the changes of leptin in saliva and blood of patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and its clinical significance. METHODS: Forty cases of non-OSCC patients and 50 cases of oral squamous cell carcinoma patients (OSCC group), the levels of leptin in saliva and blood were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results: The level of leptin in saliva and blood of OSCC group was significantly lower than that in non-OSCC group (P <0.01). The level of leptin in saliva and blood, body weight distribution, TNM stage Significant correlation. At the same time, leptin levels in saliva and blood have a higher correlation between OSCC and non-OSCC groups. Conclusion: Leptin levels in saliva and blood may be involved in the pathological process of OSCC, which may be useful markers for detecting pathological progression of OSCC and suggesting prognosis.
