光从海平线上来1979年后台湾社会逐步走向一种软性权威的时代,台湾电影政策也开始出现松动的局面。但是这种松动却带来了台湾电影作品的进一步堕落,在新电影运动出现之前,台湾电影似乎已经到了所谓的“国片死亡”境地。而香港电影新浪潮的成功出现,给台湾的电影业和当时一群默默无闻的年轻电影人带来了曙光。台湾新电影运动,就如同电影史上其他的电影运动——意大利新现实、法国新浪潮、德国新电影一样,在主题、形式各方面,发展出另一种可能性。
Light came from the horizon After Taiwan’s society gradually moved toward an era of soft authority after 1979, Taiwan’s film policy began to loosen up. However, such loosening has brought about further degradation of Taiwan’s film productions. Before the advent of the new film movement, Taiwan films seemed to have reached the so-called “death of a Chinese film.” The success of the new wave of Hong Kong movies brought a glimmer of hope to Taiwan’s film industry and the then unknown group of young filmmakers. Like the other film movements in the history of movies - the new Italian reality, the new French wave and the new German films, Taiwan’s new film movement has developed another possibility in various themes and forms.
