　　The findings show that people with simple names like Michael and Mary have a better chance of promotion in their jobs.
　　“It is important that a name is easy to pronounce”， said the head of the research team， Simon Laham.
　　Lawyers in particular got faster promotion if they had names that were easy to pronounce. Political candidates were also more likely to be successful if they had common names. Of course， US President Barrack Obama may not agree.
　　Laham said that many people did not realize that names could influence their decisions. The results of the research were useful. They could help us to better understand unfairness in society and treat others more fairly.
　　The research was published in Journal of Experimental Social Psychology. It used names from Anglo， Asian， and Western and Eastern European backgrounds.
