甲午战争使近代中国知识分子思想发生了重大变化。第一，时代意识产生。危机意识成为整个知识阶层的共识。对社会的批判和对社会的改良等政治意识成为一种时尚。第二，知识分子对传统文化产生了怀疑并进行了批判，西方文化优越论得以确立。第三，知识分子的价值观念发生转变，功名意识日益淡薄，部分入开始了职业转型。这些变化对近代中国历史的发展产生了深远的影响。
The Sino-Japanese War of 1894 made great changes to the thinking of modern Chinese intellectuals. First, the awareness of the times. Crisis awareness has become the consensus of the entire intellectual class. Political awareness of social criticism and improvement of society has become a fashion. Second, intellectuals have doubted and criticized the traditional culture, and Western cultural superiority theory has been established. Third, the values of intellectuals have changed, and their awareness of fame has become increasingly weak. Some have begun to transform their professions. These changes have had a profound impact on the development of modern Chinese history.
