在南越王墓中,玉器是最为重要的发现之一,有着极为丰富的文化内涵。光看墓主人入葬的一身行头就足以让人瞠目结舌。墓主人身穿丝缕玉衣,裹合玉衣之前,遗体内贴身铺盖14块玉璧,玉衣下面再铺5块玉壁,玉衣上面还置有组玉佩。头部、肩部、手部、腿部,里里外外,上上下下,全都是玉,南越王对于玉有近乎疯狂的痴迷。在出土的200多件玉器中,有礼玉、葬玉、装饰用玉和实用玉,琳琅满目,应有尽有。其数量之多,品种之繁和保存之好,在全国已经发掘的汉墓中是前所未有的。
