This article aims to compare the status of UNESCO’s development of the Intangible Cultural Heritage project in China and Croatia. These include the motive of China and Croatia to actively accept the United Nations intangible cultural heritage project and concrete measures on how to promote this project domestically. China and Croatia have more differences than similarities in how to treat and deal with the concepts of intangible heritage and their protection. On the positive side, this can be interpreted as the ability of UNESCO to embrace different concepts of heritage and thus promote the possibilities of cultural diversity, group authority and intercultural dialogue.
