This article discusses the migration of the Yao ethnic group in the southwestern frontier, Vietnam, Laos and other Southeast Asian countries during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Yao was forced to migrate from the border of Hunan, Guangdong, Guangdong and Guangxi provinces to the southwestern frontier and Southeast Asia due to the political oppression and economic exploitation of the feudal ruling class and the slash-and-burn cultivation methods of production and natural disasters. As a result, the transfer of the Yao ethnic population and its cultural center has taken shape and new cultural features have formed. As a result, the Yao ethnic group has become a cross-border ethnic group.
