Now, the restored Cheonggyecheon River has become a beautiful cityscape with more than 90,000 pedestrians passing by every day. It sets an example for global urban renewal projects. The solution at that time was to cover the river and in 1961 it was built as a city trunk road. Later, under the impetus of rapid urbanization, an elevated highway was built on the covered Cheonggyecheon River.
