洪德元,这个普通农民的儿子,1936年生于安徽绩溪县的一个山村。1957年他怀着发现新植物,开发祖国植物资源的志向考上了复旦大学植物专业。在大学里,他如饥似渴地学习,还大量阅读有关的俄语杂志和书籍。他的论文“RNA的动态与茎尖组织活动的关系”深得王凯基教授和老师们的好评。1962年毕业后,他以优秀的成绩考取中国科学院植物研究所著名植物学家钟补求教授的研究生,攻读了四年的植物分类学和植物地理学,并刻苦自修英语,经考核通过了所有课程。
Hong Deyuan, the son of this ordinary peasant, was born in 1936 in a mountain village in Jixi County, Anhui Province. In 1957, he was admitted to Fudan University with his specialty of discovering new plants and developing the resources of the motherland’s plants. In college, he studied eagerly, read a lot of related Russian magazines and books. His dissertation, “The Relationship Between RNA Dynamics and Stem-tip Tissue Activities,” won the acclaim of Professor Wang Kaiji and his teachers. After graduating in 1962, he obtained a master’s degree from the famous botanist Zhong Buqiu, a professor of Botany Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and studied for four years in plant taxonomy and plant geography. He studied hard at English and passed all tests course.
