From March 26 to March 29, 2011, the American Association of Applied Linguistics will be held in Chicago in 2011. This year’s President of the General Assembly is headed by Suresh Canagarajah, editorial board member of TESOL Quarterly magazine, a leading advocate of postcolonial English teaching theory and practice, and a professor at Penn State University. The agenda advocated by this conference is the study of language and ideology to explore how to further expand and construct new fields and new knowledge of applied linguistics in the context of globalization. I was fortunate enough to attend the meeting and report to my interested colleagues their own research projects.
