本文从译者文化身份的角度,探讨《论语》中的中国中心主义及其英译。通过比较理雅各、韦利、辜鸿铭、林茂荪和刘殿爵对“华夷之辨”思想的不同译法,笔者发现:民族身份对中国中心主义的不同翻译有一定影响,但由于译者文化身份的个性化差异,具体影响的方式又十分复杂,很难用中西文化二元对立的思维定势去概括。
This essay explores the Chinese-centrism in The Analects and its English translation from the perspective of translator’s cultural identity. By comparing the different translations of the “Hua Yi Zhi Dian” thought by James Legge, Willie, Gu Hongming, Lin Mao-sheng and Liu Dianjue, the author finds out that national identity has certain influence on the different translations of China’s centralism, but due to the translator’s culture Individual differences in identity, the specific impact of the way is very complicated, it is difficult to use the dualistic thinking of Chinese and Western cultures to generalize.
