This article aims to analyze the psychological and social implications of the “death” of Prufrock in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock in T.S. Eliot’s poetry. After the analysis of the original poem from the perspective of language content, grammar and grammar, we can see that the death of Prufrock is a kind of spiritual death and a loss of the ability of will and love. This death can be seen as a mental paralysis, manifested primarily in behavioral hesitation, anxiety and lack of determination; spiritually, it is full of illusions, to evade the reality that profound social loneliness. Afterwards, using Freudian theory of personality to analyze Prufrock’s spiritual world further, it was found that the main reason causing Prufrlock’s paralyzed personality lies in his strong instinctive desire and The irreconcilable contradiction between Victorian society, which has harsh abstentional traditions and ethical standards. In other words, in Prufrock’s personality, the violent clashes between self, self and super ego are the main psychological causes of his mental death. At the same time, Freud’s theory and Eliot’s poem are the product of the same era (Victoria). The difference is that Freud from the psychoanalysis point of view of psychology successfully revealed the personality of men in this era; and Eliot uses his concise, vivid poetry language lifelike portrayal of a heart full of contradictions , Anxiety and loneliness in Victorian society, thus having a wide range of social representation.
