大凡当年经历过“文革”的人,对李敦白这个名字都不会太陌生,这个长着大鼻子的美国老红卫兵,戴着鸭舌帽,在天安门广场发表演讲的形象,另类而又让人鼓舞,给当年广场上那些热血澎湃的青年人更增添了一层世界革命的自豪。所以,在很多人心目中,李敦白的名字其实是和“文革”联系在一起的。早些年,读到国内翻译出版的李敦白的回忆录,我就一直在想,李敦白投身“文革”的动因
Most people who experienced the “Cultural Revolution” were not too unfamiliar with the name of Li Tunbai. The long-nosed American Red Guards, wearing a cap, gave a speech in Tiananmen Square, Inspired by the pride of those world-beating revolutionaries, those passionate young people in the square at the same year added a layer of pride to the world. Therefore, in many people’s minds, Li Tunbai’s name is actually linked to the “Cultural Revolution.” Earlier years, when I read the memoir of Li Tunbai, who was translated and published in China, I always wondered why Li Tunbai was involved in the “Cultural Revolution.”
