2006年春季,一种被誉为“树叶杀手”的国际检疫性害虫——美国白蛾“攻”进首都北京。专家提醒,2008年奥运会举办期间,正是美国白蛾第二代幼虫的暴食期,如果对此不能有效遏制,2008年奥运会将会成为没有绿色的盛会。这让上至中央领导,下至普通百姓大有如临大敌之感。白蛾周氏啮小蜂是防治美国白蛾最为经济、环保、有效的武器。它一有机会,就立刻用异常尖锐的产卵器,刺透美国白蛾坚硬的蛹壳,在美国白蛾的身体里面产卵,利用卵和幼虫杀死美国白蛾。沈阳农业大学王洪魁教授从1980年开始,花了26年的时间,在研究美国白蛾及啮小蜂生物学特性的基础上,于1998年发明了荣获中华优秀专利的“利用柞蚕蛹繁殖啮小蜂技术”。1999年荣获国家发明专利金奖。2002年获国家发明专利权[专利号ZL9814009.2;国际专利分类:A01K67/033]。20多年来,这一技术的问世,在国内外防治美国白蛾立下了汗马功劳,产生了难以估量的社会效益、经济效益及生态效益。今年,北京市有关部门在抵御美国白蛾这一外来“入侵者”的防御战中,已放飞了近10亿头白蛾周氏啮小蜂来防治美国白蛾。
