According to records, in 1492 Columbus’s two sailors found in the Americas, there is a dry leaf burning up with a special scent. This is the beginning of smoking, 500 years have passed. Today, tobacco and its manufactured products have long played an important role in the economy of almost all nations. In India, for example, 400,000 hectares of tobacco were planted in the 1980s, worth Rs 2.8 billion, and more than a million farmers are employed. Exports of tobacco and manufactured goods reached Rs.3276 crore in the financial year 1986-1987, accounting for about 1/10 of the total agricultural exports.
