Rip Van Winkle is the first evangelist in the history of American literature created by Washington Irving. He docile, fear within, in order to escape the scornful scapegoat at home, fled into the Catskill mountains, fell asleep more than twenty years. Rip this seemingly negative approach to life, in fact, reflects the spirit of unswerving pursuit of freedom, revealing the dislike of civilized society and the desire to return to nature. Rip, animals, and nature are all closely linked from beginning to end, forming the sacred Trinity and creating a beautiful picture of the harmonious coexistence of man and nature.
