The method proposed by the author for establishing flatness standards (without the use of liquid mirrors) has been proven and extended in practice. This expansion is due to a method of determining and compensating for accidental errors and systematic errors by the conditional equations that must be met and satisfied by the absolute flatness deviation. Errors in the linear and flatness deviations of these deviations that can cause blurring can be found and completely eliminated. Non-linear errors due to temperature differences and mechanical stresses can be recognized without interfering with the photographic process. The absolute flatness deviations of three fused silica slabs were measured along seven diameters (angular distance 2π / 14) with an accuracy of λ / 500 (mean square error). This is achieved by estimating two sets of four different interference pictures, each with a λ / 50 turret plane distance (from streak to streak).
