At 393 K, the rate constants of the thermal cyclodimerization of trifluorostyrene in six solutions were determined and the temperature dependence of the rate constant was determined in three of these solutions. The reaction product is cis and trans 1,2- diphenyl perfluorocyclobutane. The reaction rate constant was calculated according to the Arrhenius equation. The log A of n-C_6H_ (14) solution was 6.02 ± 0.18 and the E_a was 19.5 ± 0.3 (kcal · mol -1) in the solution of ethylene glycol dimethyl ether , logA was 5.31 ± 0.19 and E_a was 18.0 ± 0.3 (kcal · mol -1). In methanol solution, logA was 4.93 ± 0.13 and Ea was 17.1 ± 0.3 (kcal · mol -1). The thermal cycloaddition reaction of trifluorostyrene proceeds according to the diradical mechanism.
