业余地震研究的爱好者们对模型地震学也许是陌生的。模型地震学是地震学实验研究领域的一个重要分支,是一门用模型模拟研究问题的学科。 为什么会产生这样一门学科呢?这是因为人们在研究地震学中的一些问题时,往往会遇到许多复杂的难题。它们很难或不可能用数学的方法去描述和解决。如地震波在各种复杂地质构造中的传播问题,各种地震成因假说的验证问题,这些问题既复杂又重要。能不能把这些复杂问题恰当地理想化,用小的实验模型模拟大的地质构造,在实验室再现各种地震现象呢?回答是肯定的。模型地震学正是为了解决这些问题而产生的。
Amateurs who study amateur earthquakes may be unfamiliar with model seismology. Model seismology is an important branch in the field of seismological experimental research and is a subject that studies the problems with models. Why does such a discipline emerge? This is because people often encounter many complicated problems when studying some problems in seismology. They are difficult or impossible to describe and solve mathematically. Such as the seismic wave propagation in a variety of complex geological formations, verification of various earthquake genetic hypothesis, these issues are both complex and important. Can these complex problems be properly idealized, with a small experimental model to simulate the large geological formations in the laboratory to reproduce the various seismic phenomena?
