被誉为中国华夏文明的发祥地之一的洛阳,位于中国中部的河南省。据不完全统计,历史上从夏朝开始,曾经有12个朝代,曾在这里建立都城,君临城下。今天,在洛阳的市区及周边,都布满了这些王朝遗留下来的宫殿遗址和帝王陵墓。而这座有名的通天巨塔就建造于此。它是由谁建造的,又是怎样一座堪称奇迹的百丈宝塔呢?公元515年,北魏宣武帝元恪病逝,时年6岁的元诩,被大臣拥立为帝,也就是后人所称肃宗的孝明帝,而他的母亲胡氏,就是创造了那个佛教史上奇迹,被后人称为灵太后的胡充华。
