袁宏道是晚明文学思潮的主要代表人物，同时也是一位著名的居士。佛学思想的变化直接影响到其诗文风格及文学观念的改变。袁宏道诗歌可以弥补和印证文中论述佛理之不足。其性命双修而以性为本、随缘方便、任运自适的佛学观念在诗歌中都得到了印证。论佛不礼佛的特征在诗歌中表现得最为明显。佛学对其诗歌创作的影响主要体现在朴质自然的语言风格、空灵的意境及山林化的题材诸方面，这种影响在后期更为明显。
