近代中比关系以比利时在华势力的消长可分为三个阶段:对华索权时期;在华势力膨胀时期;在华特权丧失时期。比利时在华获得的特权主要以经济权益为主兼及其它方面的特权,其获得特权的方式主要是依靠列强支持及条约中的片面最惠国条款,它没有单独的对华政策,其对华政策随其他列强转移而转移。
In the modern Sino-Belgian relations, the growth and decline of the Belgian forces in China can be divided into three stages: the period of claiming power in China; the period of expanding power in China; and the period of losing privileges in China.
