First wave: Chinese stocks first land on Wall Street By the end of 1992 China Securities Regulatory Commission was established, and subsequently, the first batch of companies approved overseas listing. Chinese companies first appeared on the US stock market in July 1993 Tsingtao Brewery, followed by Shanghai Petrochemical, Maanshan Iron and Steel, Yizheng Chemical Fiber and other eight. Their main listing is in Hong Kong but they are listed globally and on the New York Stock Exchange through the Global Depository System (GDR) and the American Securities Depository System (ADR). In August 1998, Shanghai Petrochemical H shares listed in Hong Kong at the same time, the 50% of the shares into ADR, GDR listed in New York. The first Chinese-related stock listed on the New York Stock Exchange by other means was Brilliance Gold, listed on October 9, 1992
