Iridium System (Iridium Satellite Mobile Communication System) is a system developed by Motorola in the United States in 1987 and formally developed in 1990 to realize global digital personal communication using low-orbit (LEO) satellite constellation. Its biggest difference with other satellite mobile communication systems is that it uses “interplanetary links” and “on-board processing” technologies to dramatically improve system capacity and quality.
