Tasmanian is rich in tungsten and tin and its geological status in the major granite regions is well documented, making it an ideal place to examine the validity and usefulness of tin-uranium relations. The investigation started with the Blue Tier foundations in northeastern Tasmania. Some of the rocks in the rock base are the possible source of the parent rock and alluvial cassiterite deposits of tin minerals (cassiterite). Measured data from the Blue Tier foundations suggest that granites with higher tin content associated with tin mineralization and granites with lower tin content that are not yet known to be associated with tin mineralization can be distinguished from uranium content and uranium / thorium values.
