作为国家出版“七五”规划重点项目的《英汉大词典》(陆谷孙主编,上海译文出版社出版,以下简称《词典》)历十三春秋,上卷本于1989年8月问世。这部真正编纂而非编译的大型双语词典刚一出版,便产生轰动效应。据香港三联统计,它在内地版畅销书中名列榜首,并创“半本书打天下”的纪录。笔者在使用《词典》(上卷)的过程中,发现它有以下一些特点。一、紧紧追踪英语的新发展,着重第一手语言素材的搜集。据 Everyman’s English Pronouncing Dictio-nary(第14版,1977),英语元音(?)在非重读音节中逐渐取代其他元音已在英国中、青年一代讲标准读音(RP)的人中成为一种趋势,这是现代快速生活节奏所致。如果将该词典第14版与第12版(1963)相比,若干单元音舌位图的变化告诉我们,舌部及口腔的肌肉
As the “English-Chinese Dictionary” (Lu Gu-sun edited by Shanghai Translation Publishing House, hereinafter referred to as “Dictionary”) published by the State as the key project of the “July 5” Plan, it was published in August 1989 in the Spring and Autumn Period of the 13th Year. The publication of a large bilingual dictionary, which was really compiled rather than compiled, had a sensational effect. According to statistics from Hong Kong’s Sanlian, it ranks first in the bestseller list in the Mainland and has set a record of making half the book hit the world. I use the “dictionary” (the volume) in the process, I found it has the following characteristics. First, keep a close watch on the new developments in English, focusing on the collection of first-hand language materials. According to Everyman’s English Pronouncing Dictio-nary (14th edition, 1977), the English vowel (?)
