《流言》是天才女作家张爱玲的散文代表作,也是20世纪40年代中国文学的重要收获之一。《论〈流言〉》全面剖析了《流言》的思想、艺术特征,对其鲜明的上海味、女人味、封建社会末期的历史感、渊博的知识、透辟的说理以及活泼、佻达的文风给予了高度肯定。文章也指出了作家与汉奸胡兰成的不幸婚姻对《流言》的投影及遗憾。人们对张爱玲小说的研究较多,对其散文的研究却较少,此文则揭开了张爱玲散文研究的新的一页。
