The Contemporary American writer Richard Bowers’s Echo Maker truly recorded the illusory social reality of contemporary America and showed the separation of post-modern humans from themselves, nature and places. In this postmodern ecological novel, the avian stories of danger of losing their homeland and the human stories unfamiliar with Mark ’s car accident appear alternately, demonstrating the escalating crisis in the natural environment and the anxiety of human existence in post - modern society. The reversal of fortune and identity reconstruction of the characters by Bowles express a constructive post-modernist ecological concept that advocates people to reconstruct “reality ” of self, nature and place.
