徐州为西汉楚国封地,在历年的考古发掘中出土玉印20余方,主要见于身份比较高的刘氏宗室墓葬中,多放置在棺内。玉印可分为单面印和双面印两大类:单面印基本上都是覆斗纽,个别为螭虎纽或龟纽;印面多有印文,均为姓名,字体除一般的篆书外,还有鸟虫篆。双面印又有男性印与女性印之分,女性印多用缪篆。此外,徐州还发现有将玉印与小玉饰件串联在一起的印串饰和由3枚玉印组成的玉组印。从徐州地区出土玉印的特征看,其主要应该是用于陪葬的明器。
