离心式压缩机的主要任务是提高气体的压力,它分单级和多级两种。单级离心式压缩机气体经过扩压器排入蜗壳后引向使用地点,气体在叶轮中获得的能量最后可转变为气体的压力能,因而获得了有压力的气体。多级离心式压缩机主要由许多单级组成,每一个单级都包括有叶轮、扩压器、弯道和回流器,第一级有吸入室,末级有蜗壳,都是压缩气体必经之处。
