中国戏曲是一种高度综合的民族艺术。这种综合性不仅表现在它融汇各个艺术门类(诸如舞蹈、杂技等),而出以新意方面,而且还体现它精湛涵厚的表演艺术上。各种不同的艺术因素与表演艺术紧密结合,通过演员的表演实现戏曲的全部功能。其中,“唱、念、做、打”在演员身上的有机构成,唱,指唱腔技法,讲求“字正腔圆”;念,即念白,是朗诵技法,要求严格,所谓“千金语白四两唱”;做,指做功,是身段和表情技法; Chinese opera is a highly integrated national art.
