伍廷芳是中国近代史上的重要人物。他在晚清政府的商务、外交、法律建设等方面作出了非凡的贡献。本文从国际法的角度出发 ,探究了其作为一名资深法学家在外交舞台上为争取和平的外部环境所作出的努力 ,并进而对其维护国际和平的法律思想作简要的梳理。这主要体现在四个方面 :以国际公法为准则 ,呼吁平等相待 ,维护世界和平 ;主张和平解决国际争端 ;反对军备竞赛 ;努力增进东西方文明的交往 Wu Tingfang is an important figure in modern Chinese history. He made extraordinary contributions to the business, diplomacy and legal construction of the government in the late Qing Dynasty. From the perspective of international law, this article explores its efforts as a senior jurist on the diplomatic arena for the peaceful external environment and then makes a brief review of its legal thoughts on the maintenance of international peace. This is mainly reflected in four aspects: taking public international law as the norm, calling for equal treatment and safeguarding world peace; advocating for the peaceful settlement of international disputes; opposing the arms race; and making efforts to promote exchanges between Eastern and Western civilizations
