At Technical Interchange '97, IBM introduced Business ObjectServer (BOS), a middleware object that supports multiple protocols, and a new version of OS / 2 that runs on network clients. BOS will allow corporate users to build systems built by IBM officials called “incremental re-engineering,” or to gain the ability to support business changes across the enterprise system by configuring business objects. It is said that the software can also integrate new business objects with traditional systems. BOS works with IBM's MQSeries to allow developers to write complex APIs. This software supports multiple protocols including CORBA, Java and ActiveX support, and provides a class library for accessing data warehouses or transaction servers.
