2003年,一串串闪亮的数字让莱西人兴奋不已:全市共完成国内生产总值120.98亿元,同比增长17.3%,其中一、二、三产业增加值为19.7亿元、54.67亿元、46.61亿元,分别增长4.3%、20.6%、18.6%,地方财政收入4.0277亿元,增长25.5%;全社会固定资产投资50.97亿元,增长81.1%;城镇居民可支配收入8154元,农民人均纯收入4258元,分别增长7.3%和8%。在全国第三届县域经济基本竞争力评价中,该市位次由第88位上升到85位。莱西市市委书记张锡君说:“机遇成就未来,莱西就是抓住机遇,在经济版块上做文章,让六大工业产业群焕发了莱西经济。”

In the third evaluation of the basic competitiveness of county economy, the city ranked 88th to 85th. Lixi Municipal Party Committee Secretary Zhang Xijun said: “The opportunity to accomplish the future, Lacey is to seize the opportunity to make an issue in the economic section, so that six industrial clusters glow Laixi economy.”
