In his award-winning novel Good Luck and Smiling, contemporary American writer Adam Johnson wrote about six global traumatic stories of the survival crisis spreading around the world and the efforts of people to restore confidence and dignity in life. The traumatic writing of novels shows a significant dimension of space. This paper uses Zorlu’s theory of narrative space to explore the role of space in the traumatic writing of novels from topography, space-time body and texts: the metaphor of topography and the traumatic experience of the characters, and the spatio-temporal space highlights the therapeutic actions While the textual language selection, linear timing and perspective structure further present the theme of the novel in the great background of collective trauma in the post-9/11 era and enhance the aesthetic value of trauma writing.
